2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball kicks off a new card season with a complete checklist that includes the standard base set and lots of different inserts, parallels, autographs and commemorative cards. Although not officially part of the series, there's also what's known as the tradition that accompanies each release of Topps Baseball's flagship series.
This year, the basic set consists of 350 cards. The veterans are joined by what should prove to be a large number of rookies. Future stars, league leaders and team cards are among the subsets.
The range of parallels is extensive and includes several exclusives:
First Card
Gold Foil - 1:2 jumbo packs
Rainbow Foil - 1:10 packs
Royal Blue - 1:10 retail packs (retail only)
Yellow - 2 per hanger box (hanger boxes only)
Team Color

Gold - /2024
Blue Foil - /999
Purple Foil - /799

True Photo cards need to be instantly recognizable. This is because they remove all graphic elements from the front, leaving only a full-bleed photograph.
It's not about all the parallels. As with the 2023 Topps Update, the value blaster boxes are accompanied by three holiday-themed parallels. This time, Easter and spring are in the spotlight. Combining the three per blaster, these parallels include:
Holiday
Eggs - 1:21 packs
Rabbits - 1:56 packs
Flowers - /50
Umbrella - /10
Watering Can - /5
Roses - 1/1
As far as variations are concerned, 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball sees the return of Golden Mirror Variations, where each base card will have an SSP.
2024 marks the 35th anniversary of the 1989 Topps Baseball series. As part of the flagship's continuity, the set becomes the inspiration for a new set of inserts. The design remains true to the original, but the cards feature a mix of current players and retired stars. Parallel inserts include Blue (600 copies each), Black (/299), Real One (/89) which are in retro stock like Heritage, Gold (/75), Red (/10) and Platinum (1/1).
Topps Foilboard 1989 cards are also available, although these are exclusive to retail mega-boxes. Gold Foil (/50), Orange Foil (/25), Red Foil (/5) and Black Foil (1/1) versions are also available.
2023 All-Topps Team identifies the best players in each position, while 2023 Greatest Hits highlights the season's best offensive performances.
Other inserts include Grand Gamers and Superstar Blueprint.
All four have the same parallels: Blue, Black (/299), Gold (/75), Red (/10) and Platinum (1/1). Some cards from Superstar Blueprint, 2023 Greatest Hits and Grand Gamers also have autographs numbered at 25 or less.
Heavy Lumber is back for another year. These cards are printed on woodgrain paper and are numbered to 500 copies each.
Baseball Stars autographs are back. Black (/199), gold (/50), red (/25) and platinum (1/1) versions are also available. Baseball Stars Double Autographs are limited to 10 copies each.
The 2023 playoffs are highlighted by relics (/99 or less), autographs (/50 or less) and autographed relics (/50 or less) under the Postseason Performance and World Champion banners.
Major League Materials adds more relics to the product. In addition to the black (/199), gold (/50 or less) and red (/25 or less) parallels, there are autographed versions with a maximum of 50 copies each.
The return of Topps Reverence. Exclusive to the hobby and hobby jumbo packs, it combines signatures on the card with patches. Basic versions are printed in runs of 10 each, and parallel versions are available in red (/5) and platinum (1/1).
